Most of these photo's were taken by my father, from the 1950's through the 70's. If you have any historical photo's of American Indians, especially from this period, please email me - markmcgaa@yahoo.com. I will glady post them.
A great Sioux spiritual leader. I went to his traditional funeral as a child. Something I will never forget or see again. And, I was the only blond haired white kid there!
My Dad was a Captain in the Marines during Vietman. 110 combat missions in the Phantom!
Now that's what I call an exciting life. I hope to fly a Yak-52 over Eastern Europe again, at the very least.
Son of the great Sioux holyman Black Elk. He served as the translator for the book Black Elk Speaks. Later in life, he would greet and tell stories of the Sioux to tourists at Mt. Rushmore.
My oldest brother John - in one of the cool, custom made, flight suits the Japanese ladies made for my Dad. Boy, did I miss out!
Ben Black Elk was a friend of my Grandmother.
When my dad took this photo, he liked the "contrast" between my blond sister and the weathered old indian.
